On November 24, 2025, the Canadian MSK Rehab Research Network hosted “From Experience to Evidence: Partnering with Patients in Rehab Research” as the fourth session in the Writing and Publication Online Webinar Series.
This session focused on what trainees would like to know about patient partner engagement in research and highlighted the value of involving patients throughout the research process.
The webinar featured presentations from Dr. Aliki Thomas on strategies for meaningful engagement, Dr. Katie Kowalski on integrating patient partners into MSK research and clinical practice, and Dr. Joy MacDermid on lessons learned in collaborative research partnerships. Patient partners Nancy Davies and Beccy Roden shared personal experiences with engagement in research, offering insights into how collaborative approaches can strengthen study design and relevance. The session included an open discussion period with the speakers and patient partners.
