The Wearables and Biomechanics 2025 Summer School was hosted at the University of British Columbia from June 23 to 26, 2025.
This program brought together an outstanding interdisciplinary group of over 40 trainees from across Canada to explore cutting-edge advancements in wearable technologies and movement science. We were thrilled by the strong interest in this opportunity and truly appreciated the enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement that each trainee brought throughout the week.
The week began with thought-provoking conversations about the future of biomechanics, setting the stage for deep dives into inertial measurement units (IMUs), sport and field applications, and the science behind assistive devices.

As part of our initiative to support trainee development, we have included the slideshows from speaker sessions below:
Winning the Wheelchair Race at the 2024 Cybathlon: Designing the BEAST – Dr. Jaimie Borisoff
Augmenting Surgical Approaches and Outcomes through Biomechanics – Dr. Janie Wilson
Personalized Movement Modelling Techniques – Dr. Aaron Best
What can IMUs do for You? – Dr. Calvin Kuo
Running Biomechanics Beyond the Lab – Dr. Chris Napier
Wearable Sensors for Sports Concussion Research – Dr. Lyndia Wu
