Join the Primeau Lab

Dr. Codie Primeau (he/him; il) is recruiting Master’s and Doctoral students for positions in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and chronic health research. His lab tackles real-world challenges in mobility, health outcomes, and equitable care, with a focus on arthritis, chronic pain, physiotherapy, pelvic health, clinical biomechanics, health economic evaluation, and 2S/LGBTQQIA+ health. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, students will engage in research designed in collaboration with patient and community partners, ensuring studies make a tangible difference for those most impacted by chronic conditions.

Students in the lab will have the chance to:

  • Contribute to novel research evaluating clinical and cost-effectiveness of rehabilitation and surgical interventions.
  • Collaborate directly with patient and community partners to co-develop research driven by community priorities and needs.
  • Access funding opportunities through Western University, its associated Bone & Joint Institute, and Arthritis Research Canada, including potential support to attend national and international conferences.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Strong academic performance and enthusiasm for graduate-level research.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Individuals who value equity, diversity, and inclusion in research and clinical care.
  • Interest or experience in musculoskeletal health, patient engagement, and/or equity-focused research is a plus (not mandatory).

The third session of the MSK Network Writing and Publication Webinar Series titled From Data to Discovery: Writing the Results Section, will focus on what trainees need to know about writing the results section of a manuscript. Featuring presentations from Dr. Dylan Kobsar and Dr. Pavlos Bobos, trainees can also expect to learn about formatting tables and figures for publication.

IMPACTs LAB – Dr. Myles O’Brien Paid Graduate Student Recruitment

Dr. Myles O’Brien is recruiting students interested in Graduate studies (Master’s or Doctoral) and studying MSK health & active aging. Students interested in promoting movement in community/hospital settings, epidemiology, frailty, and/or musculoskeletal function with objective measures are particularly encouraged to apply. His research program spans clinical trial, applied mechanistic, and epidemiological study designs. Specific thesis projects and independent studies will be determined based on interest and desired skillsets.

Funding is in place to support student scholarships related to MSK health clinical trials and epidemiological projects.

The successful applicant(s) will work within Dr. O’Brien’s research team and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary IMPACTs lab. The successful applicant will be embedded within the Department of Medicine at the Centre de Formation Medicalé Nouveau-Brunswick in Moncton, New Brunswick.

General & Specific Requirements:

  • Ability to write and speak in both English and French
  • Sufficient course marks for graduate studies.
  • Available for in-person work in New Brunswick.
  • Experience working with older adults, wearable technology, coding, big datasets, health outcomes, MSK function and/or cardiovascular function is an asset (not mandatory).

North American Pain School (NAPS)

The North American Pain School (NAPS) will be taking place in Montebello, Canada from June 22-27, 2025.

The North American Pain School, or NAPS, brings together leading experts in the fields of pain research and management to provide a unique educational and networking experience for the next generation of basic science and clinical pain researchers.

NAPS is open to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and clinician-scientists, enrolled on a full time basis in a pain research training program.
