Qualitative Study on Imposters/Bots in Recruitment – Seeking Participants

You are invited to participate in a Western study that explores researcher’s experiences in “imposter” research participants. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of identifying and handling imposter participants and recommendations for best practices to ensure respondents are actually the participants that the researcher intends to study.

Research team members will be eligible to participate if they have encountered or suspected “imposter” research participants, i.e., people who misrepresent themselves as fitting the inclusion criteria for a study. This includes human, robot/“bot” or AI participants. To be eligible, these “imposter” participants must have been enrolled and participated in the study, i.e., passed the eligibility screening and had data collected (partial or all data collected is sufficient for participation).

If you volunteer to participate, you will be asked to participate in an online interview. It will take about 30 minutes to complete. To participate in the study please register here: https://uwo.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ey6qBwuXH2yXLGS

If you have any questions regarding the study, please feel free to contact Sara Stretton, Co-Investigator (sstretto@uwo.ca).
